Br. Barnabas Robertson, O. Cist.

Fr. Ambrose Strong O.Cist.

Br. Barnabas Robertson was born in Bryan, Texas in 1995. He entered Our Lady of Dallas in August of 2021. He made his first temporary vows on August 28, 2022. He teaches Latin and Math at Cistercian Preparatory School.

Growing up, he spent time in Austin, Houston, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and India. He was homeschooled.

He obtained an undergraduate degree in physics (BS ’16) at Wheaton College in Illinois and a master’s degree in physics (MS ’21) at Texas A&M University in College Station.

Even as a child, he felt challenged when he heard read the invitations of Jesus to “sell all” and follow Christ and to live celibately for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. While in graduate school at A&M, he began to consider seriously how he should respond to those invitations. During that stage of discernment, a priest encouraged him to visit the Cistercians in Dallas. He made several visits to the Abbey over the course of 2020 and 2021. After applying and being accepted, he entered as a postulant on August 23, 2021.
