Br. Gideon Connor, O. Cist.

Br. Gideon Connor, O. Cist.Br. Gideon was born in 2001 in Kansas City, Kansas. Raised and educated Catholic, he eventually made his way to Irving to attend the University of Dallas. He pursued degrees in English Literature, Classical Languages and History, intending to become a teacher. About half-way through his time at UD, Br. Gideon began hearing a call to discern the priesthood, a powerful tug that pulled him out of his comfort zone and eventually into closer contact with the monks of Our Lady of Dallas. The Cistercian community, he realized, was a beautiful synthesis of his desires to serve others through teaching and through the priesthood, combined with a vibrant brotherhood of men seeking God. He entered the monastery in 2024.

In addition to the monastic regimen of study, work, and prayer, Br. Gideon enjoys hobbies, such as music (everything from Gregorian chant to Irish folk), sports (especially cross-country and rugby) and creative writing, all of which he most enjoys when sharing them with his brethren. He teaches English Lab, in addition to helping to maintain the facilities and grounds at both the abbey and the school.
